Good Morning to you all, where ever in the world you are.
I am in New Zealand.
It is Good Friday apparently.
I have much my heart would like to express today. Joys and sorrows. However, I am unable to pay honour to the words. They will need to sit tucked down deep inside, held softly, achingly, against my heart.
April 2024 Wānaka. Morning run. Looking up is good.
So instead, I share with you an Easter story I wrote two years ago. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for being here and I wish you all a special time over this weekend however you choose to spend it. ❤️
Life is messy and painful, beautiful and unpredictable. The endless practice is keeping our heart open to the whole of it.” Mark Nepo.
It feels like Santa is coming says our Eva
as we await the safe arrival of our precious one from Dunedin in a carload of male student friends.
Here they are. Here they are!!!
My heart!
8 weeks is the longest time of physical separation for us.
Eva and Harry have never even had two weeks apart. Very special relationship there. Makes me cry with gratitude.
"MUM!" Oh, gosh I am melting that he should say that with such enthusiasm whilst a car full of 18 year old boys sits in the middle of the dark street.
May all teenage boys love their mothers like this.
He manages to find a big arm to hug me whilst still balancing a 24 pack box of Speights Summit Ultra in the other.
We walk through the red front door.
We are home.
Together.
And it is Easter.
A most sacred time for me.
Lake Wānaka, Easter 2023
A time where everything is covered in gold, here in the south.
The smell of decomposing leaves - life energy.
Rich and fertile ground, grapes plunging voluptuously from vines.
And family.
The story of Easter.
You may worship at Church the outer God
You may worship your inner Gold
You may decide it's time to re awaken that which you forgot was there all along. And to re emerge into the light.
You may lie in bed eating chocolate bunnies all day.
It's up to you. It's entirely up to you.
Carrot cake is the baking request for the day.
Harry even said he was really looking forward to my cooking....Things must be really really bad in the hall of residence if this is the case.
I can't wait to wash his socks and then to sit on the couch and hear all the stories and watch the interactions between brother and sister.
All filled up.
